GenieList is the perfect tool where a full database application cannot be justified. Lists can be created in a matter of minutes. Many people use a spreadsheet for tracking lists. GenieList can fill this role quite nicely.
Because it is web enabled, your information is available wherever you have a network connection, oh, and searching is a lot easier than searching all those sticky notes and slips of paper too.

Installation is a snap, once GenieGate is installed, simply upload to a web directory and run setup.php. There are no database settings to adjust (it picks up it's settings from GenieGate).
You can have any number of lists you want, each list can be exported to a tab or XML format where it can be imported into spreadsheets or processed with XSL to create RSS feeds, etc.. After you are done with the list, you can easily delete it.
Don't worry about filling your database up with a new table for each list, GenieList has been written for several small lists rather than a few large tables.
GenieGate is used for authentication and user management. Because of this, you can assign various access levels to members of your staff, contractors or anyone. These access levels are post, read, edit and delete.
GenieList keeps track of each edit. You can safely allow someone edit access without the concern they might overwrite critical information. With it's revision log, you can easily revert back to a former entry or track all the edits a given entry has had. This is useful for tracking status updates.
Are you thinking about creating a database application but aren't sure which fields you'll need? GenieList makes this easy, just add the new fields as they are required. When you have used the list for awhile without adding additional fields, you will know which fields are required.
Although GenieList is not a substitute for a large database, it is an excellent tool for many small lists. If you should happen to find you need a larger table-based database for one of your lists, simply export it and import to an application specific database.
